Activity Narrative

The chapter strives to promote the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen through a variety of activities. Through speakers and their collection of artwork in displays they reach out to the community. The audiences include all ages and include school and career presentations to corporate events. In addition, we use our fleet of drones and aviation curriculum to provide hands on opportunities to explore the aviation world. The chapter also participates in the national scholarship program and distributes educational grants on a local level.

The Tyrell Discovery Flight Program, a partnership between Henderson Aviation Resources, the Hugh J. White Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen (St. Louis), and Elite Aviation of Chesterfield, Missouri, is focused on serving underrepresented and underserved students in St. Louis. Together, we provide young people with the life-changing opportunity to experience aviation firsthand—sitting in the cockpit and taking the controls of a small aircraft under the guidance of certified instructors. This collaboration blends the historic legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen with mentorship and professional flight training to open doors that many students may not have known were possible. Our goal is simple: inspire confidence, expand horizons, and create real pathways into aviation and aerospace careers for youth who deserve access and opportunity.

The LEAP Program is an innovative “Exposure” initiative designed to elevate youth knowledge and awareness. Our mission is to prepare them for the future, by promoting learning, personal growth, and self-confidence through hands-on participation and knowledge mastery. LEAP provides meaningful exposure to opportunities in the aviation industry, STEM fields, skilled trades, and essential life skills. Through structured experiences and real-world engagement, participants gain practical knowledge, develop technical abilities, and build the confidence needed to pursue future academic and career pathways.
