Redtails over the Carolinas is committed to inspiring young people through the exciting worlds of aviation, aerospace, STEM, and the proud legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. Through hands-on activities, demonstrations, simulators, drones, educational programs, and community events, we make learning fun while introducing students to opportunities they may have never considered.
Redtails over the Carolinas was formed February 9, 2026 as a new chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen based out of the Triad which consists of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and Burlington, North Carolina.
We also share the story of the Tuskegee Airmen and the values they demonstrated—courage, determination, education, leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. Their legacy provides a powerful example for young people as they discover their own abilities and begin thinking about their futures.
Our Youth Activities centers on second to fifth graders (7-11 year olds) and sixth to twelfth graders (12-18 year olds). These are our Young Aviators!
Since its conception the Redtails over the Carolinas Chapter has interacted with youth from Troop 411 Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts; Gibsonville Elementary School; Moore Square Magnet Middle School to help young people think about other areas that they may have not thought possible. We have discussed careers and opportunities in aerospace and aircraft during Career Days and participated in the NC 250th Freedom Fest in Raleigh, NC during July 4th, flying kites and a drone aircraft while explaining lift, drag, weight, and thrust. We have interacted with Aircraft Manufactures in the Triad area on North Carolina (Guilford Tech Community College, Honda Jet, Triad Aviation). We have ventured to Boeing’s Above and Beyond display when it was touring at the Greensboro Science Center letting students interact on their flight simulator and ride in a simulated cockpit. We have visited Guilford Tech Community College to learn more about their Aviation Center.
In cooperation with Home Depot, we have taken youth to their “build a rocket” program. Most importantly, we want young people to see possibilities for their own future. Not every child knows that aviation and aerospace include careers such as pilots, aircraft mechanics, engineers, air traffic controllers, drone operators, computer specialists, scientists, educators, airport professionals, and many others. By meeting young people where they are—while they are learning, playing, experimenting, and having fun—we can introduce opportunities without pressure and encourage them to dream bigger. Red Tails over the Carolinas honors the achievements of the past by investing in the young people who will shape our future.
We invite parents, schools, teachers, Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs, churches, youth organizations, aviation professionals, businesses, and community partners to join us. Invite Red Tails over the Carolinas to your school, organization, or community event, volunteer your expertise, support a youth activity, or help sponsor our educational programs.
Together, we can honor the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen while helping today’s young people discover the possibilities of tomorrow. Inspire. Educate. Encourage. Open Doors.
